Manchester City are reportedly planning to hold discussions over a new long-term deal with defender John Stones.
The England international struggled for gametime during the backend of the previous season but a good World Cup showing has ensured that he has once more become in favour under Pep Guardiola.
According to The Sun, the Citizens are planning to discuss a fresh deal with Stones despite his existing deal lasting until the summer of 2021. Stones is presently on a weekly wage of £120,000-a-week and The Sun claims that he could be rewarded with a pay rise of around £50,000-a-week to reflect his importance to the manager.
Manchester City have started their title defence in stunning fashion with convincing wins over Arsenal and Huddersfield and Stones has featured from the off in both of those games. The Citizens are presently leading the standings with a superior goal difference over Chelsea following their thumping 6-1 triumph over Huddersfield Town.
