Barcelona snub chance to re-sign Toure

Barcelona turned down chance to sign ex-Manchester City star

20 August 2018 - 00:09

Barcelona are reported to have snubbed the opportunity to re-sign Yaya Toure during the ongoing transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Ivory Coast international is presently a free agent after his contract with Manchester City concluded at the end of the previous campaign.

Earlier in May, Toure admitted in an interview that he would prefer staying put in England where his children are currently pursuing their education but so far, he has not attracted any big-club interest in his services.

According to Don Balon, Barcelona were offered the chance to re-sign Toure this summer but they turned down the approach despite initially considering the option.

The Catalan giants were keen to pursue an experienced midfielder to cover up the departure of Paulinho and they have since managed to do so with Arturo Vidal joining them from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, West Ham United have also been credited with an interest in Toure but their manager Manuel Pellegrini is certain that the club won't be making any Bosman signings.
