Manchester United receive key injury boost with Argentine defender

Manchester United have received a key injury boost with Marcos Rojo returning to first-team training ahead of the Burnley clash.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The Argentine has been absent for United since pre-season and during this period, he has been recovering from an injury sustained at the World Cup.

According to The Times, the versatile defender has now reported for training after an extended time on the sidelines and he could be in contention for a starting berth at Burnley.

Normally, managers tend to be cautious with players who have just returned to training but Jose Mourinho has not taken a similar approach with the likes of Paul Pogba making the curtain raiser without any pre-season action under his belt.

As such, it would not come as a surprise if Rojo makes the trip to Lancashire but it will be interesting to see which kind of formation Mourinho deploys for the visit to Turf Moor.

Against Spurs, the Portuguese opted for more security at the heart of the defence after picking a 3-5-1-1 formation but that could change for the Clarets game on Sunday.
