Arsenal manager Unai Emery has suggested that summer signing Bernd Leno will get his opportunity on a game-by-game basis, depending on the showing of current first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The Germany international was expected to take up the number one role after making the switch from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer but so far, he has played second fiddle to Cech for the Premier League duties.
Leno made his debut for the club during the recent 4-2 Europa League triumph over Vorskla and Emery has now said that the German's gametime may depend on what he decides for a particular match.
"We need to continue giving him chances and confidence for when he plays so he is at his best. My idea is to decide in the last hours before each match and first I will tell the players my decision," he told Sky Sports News.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard reiterated that Cech's performance has been good since the start of the campaign and he is not mulling a change for this weekend's Premier League meeting versus Everton.
Arsenal have picked up three straight wins in the Premier League and they should fancy their prospects of a fourth against Marco Silva's side, given their excellent home record against the Merseysiders.
