Jose Mourinho publicly criticised Alexis Sanchez before West Ham axe

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly criticised Alexis Sanchez in front of his fellow teammates before dropping him for Saturday's league clash versus West Ham United.

  • The Chile international was left out of the matchday squad for the game at the London Stadium where United suffered their third league defeat as West Ham ran out 3-1 victors.

Before the game, Mourinho indicated that Sanchez's absence from the squad was rather tactical than him suffering an injury but Chilean journalist Maks Cardenas has now claimed that the axe was due to the forward's poor showing in training.

He added that Mourinho had publicly reprimanded the Chilean before yielding the axe and this is just one of the many off-field problems for Mourinho amid the club's poor start to the season.

Aside from Sanchez, Mourinho has recently been involved in a heated argument with Paul Pogba in training but the Frenchman still made the starting lineup for the defeat to Manuel Pellegrini's side.
