Sarri wants more improvement on the defensive front

Maurizio Sarri insists Chelsea still need to improve

07 October 2018 - 22:05

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has indicated that there is still room for improvement despite the team picking up a 3-0 triumph over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • Speaking after the game, Sarri highlighted that the Blues could have done much better with the scoring opportunities at hand while they could still improve on the defensive side of their game.

"I think we can do better, they had two or three opportunities. We can do better, especially defensively. We need to be in control of the match, we can do better in the defensive and sometimes offensive phase," he said via Metro.

Despite this, the Italian should be pleased with how the club have progressed since he took charge during the summer and their unbeaten league run now sees them within goal difference off toppers Manchester City.

Following the international break, the Blues have a home encounter against Jose Mourinho's Manchester United and Sarri will surely be expecting his side to come up with three points with the recent confidence gained.
