Serbia international Nemanja Matic is reportedly an injury doubt for Manchester United ahead of their Premier League trip to Chelsea this weekend.

The former Blues midfielder withdrew from the Serbia squad for the Nations League games against Montenegro and Romania after sustaining a back injury.

He has since been undergoing treatment at United's Carrington training complex but according to Sky Sports News, his participation against his ex-employers is far from certain.

Matic missed the opening part of the season after undergoing a surgery on an abdominal problem but he has still managed eight appearances across all competitions for United.

United are currently experiencing one of their worst starts to a Premier League season and they are eighth on the standings with a seven-point gap to league leaders Manchester City.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have had no concerns whatsoever under new boss Maurizio Sarri, and they are presently third with only goal difference separating them from the top.
