United's season has been pretty disappointing since the start of the season and they most recently played out a goalless draw against Crystal Palace which sees them still seven points behind the top-four positions.

Amidst this, there has been plenty of transfer speculation with respect to United and according to The Mirror, they could lodge an attempt to acquire the signature of Arnautovic.

The Austria international was recently linked with a winter exit after his brother and agent Danijel revealed his ambition to secure Champions League football.

However, the 29-year-old has since categorically ruled out a mid-season exit via Instagram where he urged the club's supporters to ignore the gossip in the media.

Arnautovic, who has netted nearly 20 league goals for the Hammers, could be the subject of a bid of around &pound50m from United when the transfer window reopens.
