Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly understood to be weighing up a surprise attempt to sign Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer from Arsenal.
The Wales international is said to have already been denied a contract extension beyond the summer of 2019 and this has witnessed him linked with a number of elite European sides.
However, according to The Mirror, the European champions are now planning to finalise a pre-contract in the New Year with their hierarchy said to be huge admirers of the former Cardiff City graduate.
It is added that initial contact has already been made with the player's representative and the prospect of playing alongside compatriot Gareth Bale could be another tempting factor to lure him to the Bernabeu.
Ramsey was only a second half substitute in the Gunners' 4-2 comeback triumph over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday but he managed to make a key impact with a couple of key assists in the stellar victory.
