Brahim Diaz joins Real Madrid from Man City

Highly rated Spanish youngster Brahim Diaz has left Man City and joined Real Madrid on a permanent deal after failing to force his way into the Premier League club's first team. Diaz has signed a contract with his new club until 2025.

  • Diaz told reporters: "My three options were Madrid, Madrid, and Madrid. It's very simple, it's the best club in the world. You only get this chance (to sign) once and you have to take it."

At Man City, the youngster found his pathway into the first-team blocked by the likes of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling and told his agent to find a new club to join in the January transfer window.

The Malaga-born youngster joined Man City in 2013 from his hometown club for a fee of around £200,000 and his most recent transfer to Real Madrid is a reported £17 million. The money is expected to be used by Man City to bring in other youth talent in the January transfer window to replace 19-year-old Diaz.

Diaz has played one time for Spain's under-21 side and will be hoping a move to Real Madrid will boost his opportunity of a call-up to the full international squad.
