  • The Spain international was initially contracted to the Red Devils until the end of the season but the club recently exercised an extension clause to prolong his stay for another 12 months.

According to Sky Sports News, the club have now stepped up negotiations regarding a contract renewal for the Spaniard after sorting out the positions of a few first-team players of late.

The Mancunian giants have already extended the deals of Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial since the turn of the year and they are likely to continue with the same with other key players.

Aside from De Gea, compatriots Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are also in line to earn new contracts with Manchester United with their present deals scheduled to conclude in the summer of 2019.
