Fergie praises Man Utd win

Fergie praises Man Utd win

19 March 2008 - 22:43

Sir Alex Ferguson praised Manchester United for their sterling performance against Bolton in the 2-0 victory tonight. The Man Utd boss also reserved special praise for match winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored both goals early on in the game.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Ferguson said afterward: "I thought that maybe we relaxed too much, when we played with some speed and penetration we were a real threat. But credit to Bolton, they played good football at times. They probably deserved more than they got.

"We made changes considering the programme we have. I'm pleased with that. You make changes, sometimes they work. The number of games you have, you just have to make changes sometimes. So I'm pleased with the three points and some of the performances were good."

On match winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Fergie said: "He practices all the time so, he has technique he's worked on. It's a bonus that he scores."

Ronaldo has now scored 33 goals - and not as a striker.

On the title race Fergie said: "It's getting tough now, it's going to the wire. Chelsea will be key - they have us and Arsenal. I think that the team that shows the most consistency will win it."
