Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to part ways with Mateo Kovacic in the summer, should Chelsea or any other side come up with a £42m bid for his services.
The reigning European champions are expected to revamp their squad ahead of the 2019/20 season and this is likely to include player sales to recoup as much as £100m to boost their spending spree.
According to El Confidencial, the Capital outfit are actively on the search for new signings ahead of the summer with Eder Militao already snapped up from Porto for around £40m.
It is added that the arrivals will coincide with probable departures from the club and Kovacic is one of those, who should leave the Bernabeu on a permanent basis.
Chelsea are currently possessing the services of Kovacic on a season-long loan and it is suggested that Los Blancos will demand at least £42m for a permanent deal to go through.
Still, the west London giants don't have the control over the proceedings after their recent transfer ban and any business for the summer may depend on a successful appeal to FIFA or pushing their case though the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
