Benfica target Queiroz

Benfica have reportedly targeted Carlos Queiroz as their next in line to take charge of the club. The Man Utd assistant left United after his first spell to take charge of Real Madrid, unsuccessfully, before returning. Queiroz refused to rule out the possibility of another move.

  • "I won't ever say never, but there have been no discussions or talks," Queiroz is quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph.

"Benfica was of interest to me in the past but I am at Manchester United and there are many more challenges in front of me."

Benfica are reportedly looking for a coach with an English style of management after sacking Jose Antonio Camacho earlier in the season.

There are also rumours that Manuel Rui Costa is being lined up as a sporting director for Benfica.
