Utd to probe Heinze move

24 August 2007 - 18:18

Man Utd have announced that they are to investigate allegations that Liverpool may have "tapped up" Gabriel Heinze. The defender took Utd to court in order to force a move, which the court rejected. Heinze has since moved to Real Madrid; but Alex Ferguson has moved to announce that Liverpool will not be "let off" for their pursuit of the defender.

  • "We are looking at Liverpool's whole role in this. We are not letting them off with it. That is what we are investigating.", said Alex Ferguson.

David Gill is believed to be researching whether or not Liverpool actually tapped up Gabriel Heinze, and if they did, whether they can push the Premiership to penalise the Merseyside club.

Sir Alex commented that he felt Heinze was a "warrior for the club" and that his agents may have played too large a role in Heinze's future.
