West Ham edge step closer to Maxi Gomez transfer

West Ham are set to complete a £32 million transfer move for Uruguay international striker Maxi Gomez next week, having reached an agreement with the player's club Celta Vigo. The Hammers will beat La Liga side Valencia to the coveted signature of the highly-rated attacker.

  • With the Hammers having sold or released most of their forward line, manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to move swiftly to secure the signing of Maxi Gomez from Celta.

Marko Arnautovic has reportedly informed his agent that he has no plan to return to West Ham and wants to leave the Premier League for a transfer move to China, where the forward will earn a massive £200,000 per week in Asia.

Arnautovic had been a very popular player with West Ham fans, but in recent times the former Stoke City man has angered the Hammers' board with a continued desire to move to China in search of a higher pay cheque.

22-year-old striker Gomez scored 13 La Liga goals last season and the Hammers will tie the player to a five-year contract.
