Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of landing the signature of Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan from Real Madrid despite the injury setback for Marco Asensio.
Asensio suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the recent friendly between the Gunners and Los Blancos, and that is expected to keep him out for most of the forthcoming season.
According to Sky Sports News, Ceballos has already arrived in London to undergo the necessary medical tests but they are still doubts surrounding a potential deal.
Gunners boss Unai Emery has recently acknowledged that he is uncertain whether the injury to Asensio would have a knock-on effect on the pursuit of Ceballos but there remains the optimism that the move will go through.
Should the deal be completed, Ceballos would become the club's second recruit of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano last month.
Elsewhere, the north London giants have already agreed on a deal to sign defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne and the same is expected to be announced in the coming days.
