Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is open to signing Brazilian defender Dani Alves on a free transfer, after the player had been released from his Paris St Germain contract. Guardiola coached Alves during each other's time at Barcelona.
"We know, as all the important clubs know, about his situation. He is an incredible player and an extraordinary person - but we have two incredible full-backs so it is what it is," Guardiola said in a press conference.
However, with City already having a wealth of full backs at the club, Guardiola admits a deal may not be possible.
Kyle Walker is still the preferred first choice at City and Alves would be acquired simply as a backup option. At 36, Alves is looking for one more club and would like to play in the Premier League.
If City are unable to secure a deal for the right back, it is understood that German club Wolfsburg, Italian side Genoa and Premier League team Bournemouth are all also interested in the player.
