Arsenal to include Champions League clause in strikers contract?

Arsenal make contract proposal to Aubameyang

Arsenal to include Champions League clause in striker's contract?

19 August 2019 - 17:57

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to reward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a new and improved contract which will include a Champions League clause.

  • Chelsea want to negotiate terms for Victor Osimhen deal
  • Chelsea handed big injury blow ahead of Arsenal trip

  • The Gabon international has amassed 34 league goals for the north London giants since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund last year and this has encouraged the hierarchy to prolong his stay with the club.

Aubameyang is currently contracted to the club until the summer of 2021 and The Telegraph claims that the Gunners are prepared to discuss an extension with the assurance of a wage increase.

Still, they are unlikely to offer Aubameyang with the same £350,000-a-week salary which Ozil is currently earning and instead, they are willing to reward him with a large bonus, should the Gunners return to the Champions League.

Aubameyang has yet to make a decision over the proposal and reports indicate that he could delay his response until the turn of the year knowing that he is not short of admirers despite his age.

The 30-year-old has made a splendid start to the new Premier League season with the Gunners and has scored the winning goals against both Newcastle United and Burnley.
