Mauro Icardi has made a surprise loan transfer from Inter Milan to Paris St Germain on loan on European transfer deadline day. The Argentinian forward, who has slipped down the pecking order with the recent arrivals of new players at the San Siro, has an option to extend his stay on a permanent deal in the French capital.
The arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have meant that Icardi's future at Inter is unclear, thus Icardi has decided to make a transfer elsewhere.
The deal can be wrapped up next season for close to 72 million euros.
"I’d like to thank Paris Saint-Germain for the confidence they have shown in me," said Icardi.
"I will give everything to help my new team go as far as possible in all competitions. Paris Saint-Germain has become an international football powerhouse, attracting some of the greatest players in recent years."
Icardi will wear the number 18 shirt at the Ligue 1 champions, and is expected to partner Kylian Mbappe up front at Thomas Tuchel's side.
