Olivier Giroud hints at future Chelsea exit?

05 September 2019 - 14:49

Olivier Giroud has acknowledged that he would be tempted by the challenge in Major League Soccer once he decides to part ways with Chelsea.

  • Chelsea winger suffers head injury vs Nottingham Forest
  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer
  • The France international has been with the Blues for the past one-and-a-half seasons but he has yet to secure a regular starting spot.

In the current season, he has played second fiddle to Tammy Abraham in the opening phase of the league campaign and it appears that he may consider a fresh move before winding up his career.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Giroud said that he would be open to a transfer away from Stamford Bridge and a move to Major League Soccer could be a possibility in a year or two.

"The MLS for my family, my children who speak English, it's interesting. In a year? In two years? I do not know when. But of course after that I will be open to a final challenge," he told.

Giroud was left on the bench during the recent league clash against Sheffield United which ended in a 2-2 draw. The Frenchman witnessed Michy Batshuayi preferred ahead of him to replace Abraham for a cameo.
