Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that the Gunners lost the opportunity to return to winning ways during the recent Premier League clash against Southampton at home.
The Saints took an early lead through Danny Ings in the eighth minute but the Gunners managed to make a quick comeback through Alexandre Lacazette and they went level at the break.
However, in the second period, the Saints were undoubtedly the better side as they had countless number of clear-cut chances but they could only muster one more goal through James Ward-Prowse.
Ultimately, the Gunners were lucky to equalise for the second time in the game after Lacazette found the net in the dying seconds but the performance was poor with a number of defensive errors.
Following the 2-2 stalemate, Emery acknowledged that the club missed the chance to end the winless run but also insisted that the players and himself will win back the support of the fans.
"Today we lost that opportunity. I can understand how the supporters feel about the team and about me. I can only say to them I'm going to work hard for a good performance and to show we can be better," he told BBC Sport.
Arsenal have dropped to the seventh position after the stalemate. They have failed to win any of the previous five league games while gaining just three points in the process.
