Quique Sanchez Flores sacked again by Watford

01 December 2019 - 19:04

Quique Sanchez Flores is the casualty of poor form yet again at Watford, after the Spaniard was dismissed by the Watford board of directors this weekend. Flores had been brought back to Vicarage Road but a spell of bad results meant the coach would be given his marching orders.

  • Desperate to retain their Premier League status, the club's owners have opted to fire Flores and search for a replacement. Early favourites for the role include former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, whilst Laurent Blanc has also been mentioned as a candidate.

One win in 10 would be deemed as not enough by the club's management team. Flores had a contract up until the end of the season.

Watford chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury said: "Quique is a man of great integrity and it was clear how much he wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately results have dictated our decision.

"The appointment of a new Head Coach is imminent, and with nearly two-thirds of the season remaining, we will provide all the support necessary to make the coming months successful."
