Chelsea are reportedly keen on pulling off the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig when the transfer window reopens at the end of the month.

  • The Blues recently had their transfer ban lifted and they are free to recruit new players at the beginning of 2020.

According to The Mail, Blues boss Frank Lampard has the ambition of strengthening the attack front next month despite the fact that the Blues have impressed in the first half of the season.

It is added that 41-year-old holds a keen interest in signing Werner from the ranks of Leipzig and a formal approach could be made when the transfer window reopens.

The Blues have regularly relied on Tammy Abraham to find the net this season and Lampard is said to be concerned with the lack of competition for places upfront.

Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi have failed to impress when offered with opportunities from the starting lineup and the former has been tipped to leave the club at the turn of the year.

Werner, who only signed a new long-term contract with Leipzig in August, has been in impressive form this term with 19 times from just 21 appearances in all competitions.
