Tomori signs new Chelsea contract

Chelsea defender pens new five-year contract

12 December 2019 - 20:24

Chelsea have confirmed that defender Fikayo Tomori has penned a new long-term deal which will keep him with the club until the summer of 2024.

  • Man Utd star to sign new contract in next 24 hours
  • Napoli & Atletico want to sign Man Utd star for £24m
  • The centre-back made his breakthrough under Frank Lampard at the end of August and he has since cemented his place as one of the regulars.

Tomori has recently been struggling with a hip concern which has kept him out of action but he has nonetheless been rewarded with a new deal for his efforts.

"It's obviously a very proud moment for myself and my family. I've been at the club since I was seven years old so I don't really know much else other than Chelsea," he told the club's official website.

Tomori has made 16 appearances for the Blues during the first half of the season and he has been regularly paired alongside Kurt Zouma at the heart of the defence.

The injury comeback of Antonio Rudiger has definitely added more competition for places and Lampard may use him in a rotational basis with Zouma probably dropping to the bench.
