Arsenal are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo with the Barcelona defender set to join Schalke 04 on loan for the rest of the season.
Todibo has barely featured for the Blaugrana since his summer move from Toulouse and it was anticipated that the Gunners could be in the running to sign him on a temporary basis.
However, according to Football.London, the Gunners appear to have missed on the chance to pursue Todibo and Schalke are expected to seal the player's signature on a six-month loan in the coming hours.
The north London giants are on the hunt for a new centre-back after the season-ending injury for Calum Chambers and the club are looking at a short-term option at the present point of time.
Sokratis and David Luiz are presently the regulars at the heart of the club's defence but there are concerns behind them with Shkodran Mustafi and Dinos Mavropanos being inconsistent while Rob Holding is likely match sharpness after another knee injury setback.
