Arsenal to swoop for Turkish attacker on loan?

12 January 2020 - 20:15

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly set his sights on signing Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu on a temporary deal from AC Milan this month.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The Gunners have shown an improvement in their displays under the guidance of new boss Mikel Arteta and they have succumbed to just one defeat from five games in all competitions.

Still, the club are lying 10th in the Premier League standings at the moment and Arteta has talked about the possibility of making a couple of signings before the end of the month.

According to The Mirror, the Spanish tactician still has the desire to strengthen the attack front despite the club's underlying weakness in the defensive positions.

It is added that Calhanoglu has been identified as the prime attacking target and the former Gunners captain wants to sign the 25-year-old on an initial loan deal for the campaign.

Calhanoglu has struggled for form during the course of the current season and he has netted just two goals and provided one assist from 18 appearances in all competitions.

The attacker, who has previously turned out for the likes of Hamburger SV, Karlsruher and Bayer Leverkusen, has made a name for himself for his superb free-kick taking abilities. He has, however, struggled in the past few years at Milan.
