Nketiah won't be loaned out again

Arsenal make transfer decision on Eddie Nketiah

16 January 2020 - 19:26

Arsenal have reportedly decided against the loan departure of Eddie Nketiah after the intervention of Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta.

  • Tottenham planning to beat Chelsea to English striker?
  • Man Utd handed injury boost ahead of Burnley game

  • The 20-year-old was recently recalled from his loan stint at Leeds United where he hardly started in the Championship despite contributing five goals from 19 appearances.

It was anticipated that he would be loaned out to Bristol City for the second half of the campaign but The Athletic's David Ornstein now reveals that the forward will stay put at the club.

He added that the move was blocked due to the intervention of manager Arteta, who has been hugely impressed with the youngster's application in first-team training since his recall.

Nketiah is currently the fourth-choice striker in the club's ranks due to the competition from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel Martinelli and Alexandre Lacazette.

He may, however, benefit with a place in the matchday squad in the upcoming games with Aubameyang serving a three-match domestic suspension after his sending-off at Crystal Palace.
