Juventus want Rakitic in swap deal with Barcelona for Bernardeschi

17 January 2020 - 10:48

Juventus are looking to bring in January reinforcements and according to La Repubblica, sporting director Fabio Paratici has given a clear indication of who he would like to add to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

  • Chelsea to miss out on Ivorian sensation to Arsenal?
  • Man Utd winger returns to training after injury blow

  • The journal states that the Bianconeri are ready to offer Barcelona a swap deal to try to bring Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic to Serie A. The 31-year-old has 18-months left on his current deal at the Camp Nou but there has been increased speculation that this season will be his last in Catalonia. The player is believed to have told Barca officials that the two clubs he would consider joining are Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

For their part, it’s understood that Juventus are ready to offer Federico Bernardeschi in exchange for Rakitic, with boss Maurizio Sarri struggling to find a suitable position in the team for the 25-year-old Italian international who has played 19 games in all competitions this season, but has only managed to find the net once.

La Repubblica writes that the two clubs were close to agreeing the same swap deal last summer before the then Barca coach Ernesto Valverde had a change of heart. The arrival of new coach Quique Setien could now see the deal go through before the end of the month.
