Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Dortmund ace

27 January 2020 - 13:13

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly expressed his interest in signing Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Gotze.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • According to the Express, Spurs boss has figured out Gotze as one of the players who can fill the shoes of Harry Kane on a short-term basis.

Earlier it was reported that the German ace is set to leave the Die Borussen once his contract runs out this summer.

The former Bayern Munich man turns out to be a played-down figure for Lucian Favre this season after making only five starts in 11 appearances. Gotze has been primarily deployed as a centre-forward under Favre whilst having the tendencies to play as a false 9, attacking midfielder and as a winger.

Spurs have suffered a huge blow with the injury of Kane midway through the season, and Mourinho appears keen on signing a new striker. Names like Willian Jose, Timo Werner and Piatek are all on the North London club’s agenda.

The Portuguese manager awaits a big test against Manchester City this Sunday.
