Arsenal may have limited funds for the summer

Arsenal face blow to summer transfer plans?

29 February 2020 - 18:42

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may have to work with a limited budget for the summer transfer window following the club's exit from the Europa League.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The north London side bowed out of the European competition at the round of 32 stage where they were surprisingly beaten by Olympiacos on away goals.

According to The Star, the Gunners are set to miss out on around £30m in revenue through ticket sales and prize money following their early exit from the Europa League.

The same outlet adds that club could miss out on another £40m, suppose they fail to book their berth in next season's Europa League through a top-six or top-seven finish in the league.

Arteta is said to be keen on parting ways with a number of first-team stars during the summer but he would surely require additional funds in order to bring quality signings.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are among those who have been linked with possible exits but the club are said to be desperate to renew the contract of the former which expires in June 2021.
