Henrikh Mkhitaryan set for Arsenal comeback?

07 March 2020 - 18:29

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he is open to the possibility of Henrikh Mkhitaryan returning to the first-team plans at the club.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • The Armenian fell out-of-favour under ex-boss Unai Emery at the start of the season and he was hence loaned out to Roma for the campaign.

Mkhitaryan has endured an injury-hit spell with Roma with just 17 appearances but he has impressed with six goals and four assists.

In a recent press conference, Arteta said that he has always liked Mkhitaryan and the attacker could fit into his plans for the 2020/21 campaign.

"It's a possibility that we have and will consider. I always liked him, he is the kind of player who can fit in any team when he is at his best," he told via Goal.

The Gunners recently picked up a third-straight league win as they registered a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over West Ham United at home.

They are currently placed ninth on the league table with 40 points, three adrift of Wolves, who are occupying the final Champions League spot.
