Olivier Giroud confirms Tottenham Hotspur interest

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur were one of the clubs, who had shown an interest in signing him during the winter transfer window.

  • Inter Milan table offer for Chelsea outcast
  • Chelsea star one of the main targets for Bayern

  • The Frenchman failed to earn a competitive appearance for the Blues during the festive period and it was widely predicted that he would part ways with the club in January.

However, that did not happen as the west London side were unable to find a replacement. This has worked out well for the striker, who has reclaimed a starting role in the injury absence of Tammy Abraham.

In an interview with Telefoot, Giroud has now confirmed that he was desperate to leave the Blues in January and a move to Inter Milan was his priority.

"I saw myself elsewhere after experiencing six complicated months. I did everything to leave - it's true. Inter was the priority," he told the publication.

He added that there was also interest from the likes of Lazio and Spurs but the Blues were clear that he would not be sold during the January transfer window.

"There was also contact with Lazio and Tottenham. But circumstances meant that Chelsea blocked it. It was not my choice," he further told.

Over the past few weeks, Giroud has made five successive starts for the Blues in all competitions. He has scored two goals against Spurs and Everton respectively.
