Mkhitaryan open to Arsenal stay?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan refuses to rule out Arsenal return

31 March 2020 - 19:49

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has refused to rule out the possibility of extending his career with Arsenal once his loan spell with AS Roma concludes this term.

  • Arsenal make decision to sell midfielder for £20m
  • Arsenal lining up surprise move for Real Madrid star

  • The Armenian fell out-of-favour under manager Unai Emery and he was therefore loaned out to the Giallorossi for the entirety of the 2019/2020 season.

Mkhitaryan has sustained a few injuries during his time in Rome but he has still impressed with a tally of six goals and three assists from 13 appearances in all competitions.

Of late, Mikel Arteta, who replaced Emery as the Gunners boss in December, has hinted that he could welcome Mkhitaryan back into the squad and the attacker has refused to rule out the option.

"I can't say anything at the moment. Football changes so quickly. One day you're here, the other you're there. You never know what can happen and what will happen with you," he told The Times.

Roma are keen on landing the signature of Mkhitaryan on a permanent basis but they are reluctant to meet the Gunners' £21m asking price for the former Manchester United man.

The Serie A outfit are prepared to offer an initial £13.8m with £2.2m as add-ons. Mkhitaryan has just 15 months remaining on his current Gunners deal and he may be sold unless he signs a possible extension.
