Henrikh Mkhitaryan makes Arsenal transfer decision

Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan has reportedly told Arsenal that he wants to secure a permanent move to AS Roma this summer.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The playmaker joined the Giallorossi on a season-long loan in August and he has since contributed six goals and four assists from 17 appearances.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Mkhitaryan is keen on sealing a permanent switch to AS Roma when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old currently has less than 14 months remaining on his existing deal and reports claim that the Gunners may have to sanction his sale for a reduced fee.

Mikel Arteta's side had previously set an asking price of around £20m for Mkhitaryan but they may have to accept 50 per cent of that value amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Aside from Mkhitaryan, Roma are also looking to sign Chris Smalling on a permanent basis when his loan contract from Manchester United expires. The Red Devils are reluctant to accept anything less than £25m for the defender's sale.
