Manchester United could reportedly sanction the exits of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling when the transfer window reopens in a few months' time.
Smalling is currently on a season-long loan with Roma where he has caught the eye with a string of impressive displays. The Serie A side remain keen on signing him on a permanent basis.
Rojo, on the other hand, joined Estudiantes on loan in January after barely making an impact during the first half of the season. Jones, meanwhile, is still with the United squad but has made just one league appearance since the end of November.
According to Manchester Evening News, the club are likely to part ways with the defensive trio this summer such that they can increase their transfer funds as well as reduce their wage bill.
It is unclear whether they are interested in signing a new centre-back but they have been linked with Swansea City's Joe Rodon, and Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly this month.
