Skriniar to Man United?

Manchester United lining up Victor Lindelof replacement?

18 May 2020 - 20:42

Manchester United are reportedly looking into a deal for Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on finding a new cenral defensive partner for Harry Maguire.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Red Devils have had Maguire and Victor Lindelof as the regular combination at the heart of the defence this term but the latter has been prone to making the occasional errors with his positioning.

According to ESPN, United are looking into a potential swoop for Skriniar this summer with Solskjaer keen on strengthening the defence further ahead of next season.

Skriniar has made nearly 100 appearances for Inter since his move from Sampdoria in 2017 and he has previously been deemed indispensable amid the interest from Barcelona.

However, it appears that the Nerazzurri are willing to sanction his departure this summer, provided any club is prepared to meet their £52m price tag for the Slovakian's services.

Skriniar has excellent ball-playing abilities and he has a pass success percentage of more than 92 over the course of the season. Elsewhere, he is strong with his tackling and interceptions, and he could prove the perfect foil for Maguire next term.

United presently have Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones as the reserve centre-back options while Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling are out on loan.

Skriniar's arrival could see Lindelof drop to the substitutes' bench while the likes of Jones, Rojo and Smalling could be shown the exit door.
