Chelsea hold fresh talks to sign Kai Havertz

19 August 2020 - 20:58

Chelsea have reportedly reopened negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Kai Havertz this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Blues have already strengthened their attack this summer with the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, but they are still keen on sealing the deal for Havertz.

Havertz has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Blues, but they still need to make the breakthrough over the transfer fee with Leverkusen.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues have recently reopened talks with Leverkusen over Havertz and have offered €65m plus €15m in add-ons.

However, Leverkusen have rejected the proposal and want the west London side to come up with a package meeting their €100m asking price.

Havertz enjoyed an impressive 2019/2020 season for Leverkusen and he finished the campaign with 18 goals and nine assists in all competitions.

He is said to be keen on joining the Blues in the Premier League, but Leverkusen are quite clear that they won't sell him unless their price is met.
