Arsenal have revealed that Kieran Tierney could return to full training later this week after overcoming a minor groin injury.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • The Scotland international sustained the problem in the warm-up ahead of the West Ham United clash and he was hence replaced by Sead Kolasinac in the starting XI.

Arteta clarified after the game that Tierney had only picked up a minor concern and the Gunners have now revealed that the 23-year-old could resume regular training in the coming days.

"Tight left groin on Saturday," An update on the club's official website read. "Settling well and aiming to resume full training later this week."

The north London side are scheduled to face Leicester City on the road in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Tierney is unlikely to be fit for the encounter. Kolasinac may continue on the left side of a three-man central defence for the Gunners.

A number of fringe players could also feature in the Cup outing. It remains to be seen whether Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil make an appearance.
