Perr Schuurs makes transfer decision amid Liverpool interest

27 December 2020 - 20:54

Ajax defender Perr Schuurs has dismissed the prospect of leaving the Dutch champions next month amid the reported interest from Liverpool.

  • Chelsea beat Inter Milan to sign £47m Italian star
  • Tottenham finally agree terms with Man Utd target
  • The Merseyside giants are currently without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez with long-term knee injuries while Joel Matip has joined the treatment room with a groin problem.

As a result, they are left with just Fabinho as the senior centre-back in the squad and Jurgen Klopp will have to use either Rhy Williams or Nathaniel Phillips alongside him in the coming games.

Earlier this month, it was highlighted that the Reds were interested in Schuurs, but the young Dutchman has clarified that he has no plans of leaving Ajax anytime soon.

"I'm not really in favour of going abroad early. I feel at home here so I want to play here for a few more seasons," He told NOS. "You know when you play at Ajax that you are under a magnifying glass."

Schuurs has been able to cement a regular starting berth this term with the departure of Joel Veltman. Together with Daley Blind, he has formed a solid partnership and they have conceded just 10 goals in 14 league games.
