Spurs enter race for Lingard

Tottenham Hotspur want Manchester United attacker on loan

21 January 2021 - 19:31

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.

  • Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea star is out for six weeks

  • The England international has barely played for United over the past year and he has yet to make a Premier League appearance this term.

Hence, he has been linked with a possible loan move and TalkSPORT claims that Spurs could compete with Sheffield United for his services.

Lingard played some of his best football under Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese appears keen on a reunion for the rest of the season.

The attacker's current deal expires in the summer of 2022, but United are still reluctant to send him on a short-term loan deal.

While United have plenty of options in the attack, Lingard is still regarded as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plan for the campaign.

The club are currently top of the Premier League table after 19 games and Solskjaer wants sufficient squad depth.

A number of players have been hampered by injuries and coronavirus this term and Solskjaer is wary of loaning out Lingard.
