Liverpool set asking price for out-of-favour striker

04 July 2021 - 20:52

Liverpool are open to offloading Divock Origi for the right price during the ongoing transfer window, The Athletic reports.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Belgian made just 17 appearances for the Reds during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring one goal in the process.

He has entered the final year of his contract, but the club have the option of extending his stay for another season.

According to The Athletic, the Reds are not actively looking to sell the 26-year-old despite his limited impact.

They will only offload him for the right price. The Reds reportedly value him between £15m and £20m.

The Merseyside giants have a similar stance on Xherdan Shaqiri, who was hugely impressive for Switzerland at Euro 2020.

Shaqiri has been a bit-part player, and has often been on the bench. The club are looking for around £13m to sanction his sale.

The Reds are searching for a new central midfielder this summer after the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum.

They may need to recoup part of the funds from player sales. Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez has recently been linked.
