The Senegal international is one of the best defenders in the Serie A, and has spent the past seven years with Napoli.

He was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, but just like in the past, nothing materialised.

According to football.london, the Blues could make a surprise move for Koulibaly when the transfer window reopens.

Napoli are facing financial difficulties, and they are open to parting ways with Koulibaly, who is their highest earner.

The 30-year-old could be available for around €35m. The Blues are likely to pursue a new centre-back midway through the season.

They were keen on landing Jules Kounde, but failed to negotiate a fee. Sevilla are unlikely to listen to any January offers.

The Blues could be tempted to land Koulibaly, who has been a long-term target for them. He was first on their radar in 2016.
