Arsenal remain hopeful of extending striker's contract

27 October 2021 - 20:38

Arsenal are still hopeful of renewing the contract of Eddie Nketiah, Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur claims.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game

  • The Gunners graduate has barely played for the club this term. He has made just two appearances in the League Cup.

One of those came against Leeds United yesterday where he found the back of the net. The club sealed a 2-0 win at home.

Following the game, Mikel Arteta said that Nketiah has the potential to be a top player, and he would personally like him to stay.

Nketiah has yet to extend his deal that expires next summer, but the hierarchy are hopeful of convincing him to do so.

The striker wants assurances of regular game time which appears unlikely at the moment with the fierce competition for places.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are ahead of him in the pecking order, but the latter could leave soon.

His contract also expires next summer. The board are reluctant to hand the Frenchman an improved deal as he is already 30.
