The Gunners have had an impressive first half to the campaign, and they are likely to make mid-season additions to boost their top-four hopes.

A new midfielder appears a priority this month, particularly with the absence of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny due to the African Cup of Nations.

The club\'s hierarchy are keen on securing a quick deal for a new signing, and it is reported they have their sights on pursuing Guimaraes from Lyon.

The 24-year-old was on the Gunners\' radar when he was at Athletico Paranaense, but he ended up joining Les Gones in January last year.

He has since been a key player for the club, but reports claim that he could be sold if they receive a suitable offer of around £38m.

The Gunners are likely to propose a short-term loan with an obligation to buy if the midfielder makes a particular number of appearances.
