Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes during the January transfer window.

The Gunners have had an impressive first half to the campaign, and they are likely to make mid-season additions to boost their top-four hopes.

A new midfielder appears a priority this month, particularly with the absence of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny due to the African Cup of Nations.

The club's hierarchy are keen on securing a quick deal for a new signing, and it is reported they have their sights on pursuing Guimaraes from Lyon.

The 24-year-old was on the Gunners' radar when he was at Athletico Paranaense, but he ended up joining Les Gones in January last year.

He has since been a key player for the club, but reports claim that he could be sold if they receive a suitable offer of around £38m.

The Gunners are likely to propose a short-term loan with an obligation to buy if the midfielder makes a particular number of appearances.
