Arsenal are reportedly considering a loan move for former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Gunners will be without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny this month due to African Cup of Nations duty.
This will leave them with Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as the senior midfielders.
According to FourFourTwo, the Gunners are readying a bid for Wijnaldum, who is now with Paris Saint-Germain.
Wijnaldum left the Reds for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting role.
He is now eyeing a temporary exit, and it is claimed that the Gunners are ready to lure him back to the Premier League.
The club are currently evaluating a loan offer from Roma for Maitland-Niles, but appear unlikely to sanction his exit.
The scenario could change with the purchase of a midfielder. It remains to be seen whether Wijnaldum arrives at the club.
The Dutchman's vast Premier League experience could be influential in the Gunners' pursuit of Champions League football.
