Chelsea reportedly pushed to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele during the January transfer window.
The Blues were heavily linked with the Frenchman last month, but a deal did not materialise between the clubs.
Thomas Tuchel recently dismissed any contact with the player, but Mundo Deportivo reports a different story.
The Spanish publication states that the Blues had held talks with the Blaugrana over a winter deal for Dembele.
However, they were put off by the financial demands, and may now look to sign him at the end of the campaign.
Dembele has just five months remaining on his deal. He is free to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club.
While Chelsea are still in the mix, the report claims that Paris Saint-Germain could be favourites to land him.
The French giants are likely to meet his wage demands of £210,000-a-week on top of a significant signing-on fee.
Meanwhile, Dembele is expected to play regularly for Barcelona over the coming months despite his contract rejection.
