Newcastle United are deemed favourites to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen during this summer\'s transfer window.

The Magpies have had a tremendous turnaround in fortunes since January, and they are currently four points clear of the drop zone.

Should they avoid relegation, the club\'s Saudi owners are expected to spend big this summer with the focus on landing marquee players.

Osimhen is one of them who is being closely tracked. The 23-year-old has bagged 11 goals and four assists from 21 games this term.

Manchester United are one of the player\'s admirers, but Italian presenter Luca Cerchione claims that the Magpies are leading the pursuit.

The Tyneside outfit already made a statement in January, having spent £92m on new signings. They could spend double during the summer.

Aside from Osimhen, the Magpies may revisit their interest in signing centre-backs Sven Botman and Diego Carlos, having missed out last month.

Both players were willing to join the club, but Lille and Sevilla were reluctant to do business midway through the current campaign.
