Arsenal are planning to sign Gabriel Jesus and Lisandro Martinez by next week, according to The Mail.

The Gunners have held a long-term interest in Jesus, and they are currently in advanced negotiations with Manchester City.

Their opening bid of around £30 million was turned down, but they are optimistic of landing his services for £40m plus add-ons.

Meanwhile, the north London giants are also in negotiations for Martinez, who was named Ajax's Player of the Year.

The Argentine has given the go-ahead for the transfer to the Emirates Stadium, but Ajax won't let him go on the cheap.

A first offer of around £26m was snubbed, but the Gunners are hopeful of persuading them with an improved bid.

They are prepared to offer around £30m plus add-ons and believe the proposal could be sufficient to do transfer business.

Arsenal have been busy during the early days of the transfer window, and have already signed Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira.
